Payyappilly Family Union Aluva - Silver Jubilee 2002

History

Payyappilly family was residing in Akaparambu, near Angamaly in the early days of the 19th century, according to "The Malabar Christian Historical Directory 1940," edited by Mr. Philip George.

Those details can be found in the chapter "Early Christian Families in Kerala" of the book.

At the turn of the 19th century, Mr. Paulo Vareed, a parish member of Akaparambu, became involved in marriage from Kuttipuzha, a town nearby.

A land was given to him by his father-in-law, so he moved to Aluva, near the market. After few years later Mr. Paulo Vareed donated his land to construct a church, St. Domnic Church Aluva. Now its a big parish in Ernakulam Angamaly Diocese , having more than 1100 families.

After donating his land to church, Mr. Paulo Vareed shifted to the northern side of the church, now its Aluva old market.

It's the begining of the Payyappilly Family in Aluva. Mr. Paulo Vareed had five sons, Paulo, Avara , Iype, Chandy and Thommy. Now we have more than 45 family in Aluva.

For keeping the unity in the family, established Payyappilly Family Union in February 1977.
